Sewing Quarter Friday 10th May 2019
On Friday 10th May 2019, I appeared again on Sewing Quarter! I was on at 8 am and again 10 am. For those who missed the first show on 29th March 2019 (catch up here), I spoke in more detail about my sewing journey and where my love of all things African wax print began. I also spoke about the fabric's heritage, fabric care and I shared some of my top sewing tips!
I was so excited to launch my first sewing pattern on the show! As someone who regularly exhibits at fabric shows, I often meet people who ask me to recommend sewing patterns for the fabric I sell, or they will absolutely fall in love with a particular print but are unsure as to which projects to make. After some time, I decided to design a range of sewing patterns specifically for sewing with wax print. The first pattern in the range is Althea, an A-line skirt with an elasticated waistband and huge pockets! It is the perfect pattern whether you are new to sewing or simply new to sewing with wax prints. For the more experienced sewers, you'll be able to make up the garment in any of your favourite fabrics in an hour or so and, experienced or otherwise, having made the skirt once, you'll be making it again and again. Tune in to the 10 am hour of the show to see a really quick demo from me showing how to make up the skirt. If you missed the show you can catch up here. Buy the Althea skirt pattern here.
