I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with you all. This year, we're joining Sew Over It for their sewathon this year, raising an amazing £10k for charity last year! And guess what? They're doing it all over again, this time in support of the vital mental health charity Mind.
Here are the details you need:
When and Where: On Monday, September 4th, starting at 10 am (UK time), embarking on a 24-hour sewing marathon that'll run through to Tuesday, September 5th at 10 am.
The base for The Big Sew Off will be at the charming New Craft House in East London. As we sew, we'll be contributing what we create to Give Your Best, an incredible non-profit that operates like a Vinted-style platform for refugees and asylum seekers to shop for free.
Throughout the full 24 hours, the Sew Over It team will be sewing at the central hub, joined by several sewing personalities. Look forward to seeing The New Craft House Team, Elisalex from By Hand London, Lucy from Sew Essential, Emma from Studio 7t7, Johanna from Sew Love Patterns, Claire from Beautiful Things HQ, Holly Dennett, and more!
Live-Streamed Connection: We're making sure you're part of the action too! You can catch all the sewing magic through our live stream on the Sew Over It YouTube channel. Keep an eye on our Instagram for spontaneous updates and connection with sewing enthusiasts and businesses worldwide.
Tilly & the Buttons and Sew Me Sunshine teams will be sewing from their studios, staying connected with us throughout the day. Plus, there are Big Sew Off hubs popping up across the country, with Great British Sewing Bee alumni leading the charge. Jen Hogg is creating a hub at Sew Yarn Crafty in Dunfermline, Scotland, and Lauren Guthrie is setting up shop at Guthrie & Ghani in Birmingham.
Expect special appearances from Sewing Bee contestants, both past and present. We're in for a fantastic day of sewing and solidarity.
How You Can Participate: Your involvement is key to making this sewathon a success. You can start contributing to our JustGiving page right away and continue throughout September 4th and 5th. Your donations are our fuel as we sew our way through 24 hours of creativity.
